My First Project: Ben10 Cake for Arif

Some people like cooking, some like reading, some are amazingly creative and can do wonders on canvas ( like my dear friend Mrika ), but me, my hobby is "Acquiring Skills". Haaaaaa. So, I don't just have one hobby. I have many, and too diversed to story-mory. When I was Little Miss Preggy ( haha, not so little pun ) with my 3rd little dahling, skill acquired was cake decorating. Syioook! I've always loved baking. Made husband bought me an expensive oven when we first moved into our very own home ( sowey, abang dahling ). But decorating department, FAIL! Creativity ZERO. Since, during that time, I have a bit of time in hand, and maybe because I was carrying a girl, I started exploring the art of cake decorating.

Ariza, my sister in law (SIL), was kind enough to let me do a birthday cake for my nephew Arif. It was his 5th birthday, and he wanted a Ben10 cake. Haaaaaa, ambik ko! First project, Ben10 cake tu. Ariza wanted a chocolate moist cake. Nyum nyum. The cake baking part was okay. But the Ben10 part was a bit of a challenge. I browsed, and browse for Ben10 pictures on the net. Found one nice picture and most importantly not too fancy to re-draw on the cake.

Since it was my first project, I did a trial run on a small round butter cake.

Okay tak? Not bad la, for a beginner. Donated the cake to the boys' kindergarten.

Unfortunately, it was a really hot day when I started on the real cake. So, the icing was a bit runny. Or maybe my consistency was not right for piping. But, managed to complete the cake, and the result is attached below:

I was happy with the result, but of course, still a lot of room for improvement. Will need a lot of practice. Yey!
